Faulty FC-1 & a question

So I posted this in my earlier thread about the FC-3 but had no response so I'm posting again separately :

So I just received my FC-1.

Faulty, sees the computer I intermittently , crashes the Pedal Config Tool when setting CC number. Also I don't know whether it is possible to remain in Green USB device mode? Every time I re-connected the device it needed to be set to green again. The manual is not very clear - it suggests choosing the mode then connecting to the computer, however, if using in chain with FC-3, this is not possible, unless it's powered independently. And there's no way I want another power supply on stage just for this device. I'd like to be sure the device can be mode changed whilst connected to the computer please!

Sending back to Amazon and wondering whether to risk buying a replacement. I lose confidence very quickly in something that arrives faulty - on a busy stage that's the last thing I need, unreliability.
