FC-1 bricked after firmware update?

New FC-1 owner, programming is via a MacBook Air M4 running Mac OS 26.7. My device seems to have bricked itself after installing the most recent firmware. No sigh of life when powered by 9V or by USB. The device appears to be dead.

If I press the silver stomp switch (not the mode switch) while plugging into a power source, the status LED will blink red. That's the only sign of life I can get from the unit.

Is there anything else I can try from my end, or do I need to send it back for repair or replacement? TIA.
